Grade 6 Saints Project

A letter went home last week regarding the Saints Project our grade 6s will be working on over the next month with the Religion and Language teachers. Students have a copy in their "Language" folder of all the information that is required along with recommended sites to gather information from. When they are researching and writing their biography on their saint, students are asked to write in 3rd person perspective.  This project works in conjunction with the church and preparation for confirmation.

On Thursday, February 8th, my grade 6 class will be dressing up as their saint of choice and doing a short oral presentation in the gym starting at 10am. For this presentation, students are asked to create short point-form notes on index cards that they can refer to while they present information on their saint. While presenting, the students will be taking on the character of their saint and refer to themselves in 1st person. The class will be set up around the gym and our guests will be able to walk around freely to listen to each saint. Families are welcome to attend this unique event.

Students will be researching the following information:
Name:
Date of birth:
Date of death:
Age at death:
Where they were born/lived/died:
Feast Day:
Canonization Date:
Patron Saint of:
Are there any symbols associated with this Saint?
Brief history of their life: (include what they did to help others)
Miracles associated with this Saint:
How/why they died:
Why did you pick this Saint?
If your saint were alive today, what would they be doing? (ie. where could they be found)
Include at least one picture.
